CN Training Excellence Center
D81 CRIO PENDANT FIXTURES ENRICH THE NEW TRAINING CENTER IN CHICAGO
Canadian National Railway Company (CN) has recently opened its new employee training center in suburban Chicago.
CN is a true backbone of the economy, transporting approximately C$250 billion worth of goods annually for a wide range of business sectors, across a rail network spanning Canada and mid-America.
The location of the new Training Center is strategic: the Chicago area is the largest freight hub in North America and Homewood is home to CN’s U.S. headquarters. The 55,000-square-foot facility hosts up to 250 CN students from across the United States every week, with training for all key railway jobs.
A very generous public space in the new building anchors two stories of specialized training rooms along with administrative spaces – including a transportation lab, simulation rooms, and direct access to welding shops, live track, and a repair shop.
Fabbian USA was able to collaborate with Garnett Architects with its flagship pendant lamp D81 Crio, providing the pristine and sculptural white version in a 24″ and 48″ diameter varieties. Both variations illuminate the space through a light source hidden behind an acrylic domed diffuser.
13 fixtures installed at different heights now welcome CN’s new trainees and staff in an open concept lobby and common area.
With its multifaceted and aluminum structure, D81 Crio can fit into numerous commercial and residential spaces.
New for 2017, the D81 Crio Series is now available with LED light sources and a 72″ Large Scale version has been added to the family. All versions are available in White, Light Oak Veneer, Dark Ebony Veneer, or Custom Paint and Wood Veneer options.
