D’Altro Trancio Pizzeria – Portici, Italy
The design for the D’Altro Trancio pizzeria, located in Portici in Piazzale Brunelleschi, combines simple, traditional materials with a modern sensibility to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Large windows fill the interior with natural light, enhancing the interplay of textures and contrasts. The main counter, clad in terracotta bricks, evokes the warmth of the oven, while the countertop and snack bars are crafted from lava stone—a distinctive material rooted in Vesuvian architecture and craftsmanship. Concrete-effect stoneware provides visual continuity between the floor and wainscoting, while rough, trowelled plaster in warm tones echoes the nuances of exposed brickwork.
Soft, sinuous shapes—such as the curved counter and rounded corners of the walls—recall 1950s style, thoughtfully reinterpreted in a contemporary key. Designed by Alessandro Di Prisco, the interior features lighting by Fabbian that enhances this refined atmosphere. The modular Dome arch system, also by Di Prisco, introduces gentle rhythm and balance, while the Lumi Sfera Wall lights provide diffused ambient illumination. Their soft, minimal design integrates seamlessly with the interior, perfectly complementing the overall aesthetic.
The result is a refined play of contrasts: the solidity of raw materials paired with fluid architectural lines. This design reflects the essence of the pizzeria itself—a celebration of authentic ingredients and the artistry of pizza-making, offered within a modern and sophisticated dining experience.
